1. Looking at Las Vegas Metro PD first — How many tickets were written last year and how many were paid?
Las Vegas Metro PD filed almost 32,000 violations in Las Vegas Municipal Court last year, totaling almost $12 million in fines.
Almost half the traffic citation cases were closed but that didn’t amount to half the fines being paid. Some can get dropped or the fines decreased.
Only $2.8 million in fines were paid — or 23%.

2. What about Henderson PD and North Las Vegas PD?
North Las Vegas PD filed 18,227 traffic citations in municipal court, totaling over $14 million, but $2.7 million worth was dismissed, and they collected only a little over $5 million, making their collections rate a low 35%.
Henderson PD had the best return. They filed 9,093 traffic citations totaling $2.6 million in potential fees, and 7,130 were paid for almost $1.8 million, a 68% collection rate.

3. How does this compare to previous years?
So the 2023 numbers are between 23% for Metro PD and 68% for Henderson.
The year before, it was between 33% and 58% — Metro PD had a 58% collection rate, N Las Vegas was 33%, Henderson was 52%.
So you’re seeing millions of dollars in unpaid traffic tickets every year.
