Across America, 10,806 entities received at least $250,000; and 419 entities received at least $1 million in subsidy- totaling $725.162 million (2008-2012).

New York City- Nearly 4,000 entities that live in just three major American cities received $27.5 million in farm subsidies- where there are no farms. OpenTheBooks.com studied federal farm subsidies recipients in Washington, D.C.; Chicago, IL; and New York City, NY.
The recipients include the wealthiest families in the country (Rockefeller); a charity-arm of The Nation of Islam, receiving checks at the home address of Minister Louis Farrakhan; the New York based National Audubon Society received $960,000 - including a New York based tobacco subsidy; Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) receiving his Iowa farm subsidy check at his Arlington, VA condo; executives leading the U.S. Department of Agriculture and farm subsidy lobbyists are both receiving tens of thousands in subsidies.
