WASHINGTON (TND) — Millions in royalty payments flowed into the National Institutes of Health during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s the takeaway from a lawsuit filed to try and unearth where the money was coming from.
Adam Andrzejewski had to sue to find out how much money was going to the National Institutes of Health from 2021 to 2023. The lawsuit turned up records of payments totaling $710 million from private pharmaceutical companies going to the NIH, including royalties to its scientists during the pandemic as treatments were being developed and licensed.
