WASHINGTON (TND) — Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) introduced legislation mandating a “tax cheat audit” of the federal payroll designed to find the number of employees at the Internal Revenue Service who do not handle their taxes properly.
Adam Andrzejewski, founder of Open the Books, says that the results of the audit show that 5,800 IRS employees and contractors owe money to the U.S. government.
