WASHINGTON (TND) — Northwestern University was in the hot seat this week as President Michael Schill came before the U.S. House Committee on Education. These universities are not only heavily subsidized by taxpayers but also by foreign entities and governments.
“They're heavily funded by taxpayers so we broke the story this week. Our auditors at OpenTheBooks found $4 billion of taxpayer funds, federal government contracts and grants flowed to Northwestern since 2018,” said Adam Andrzejewski, OpenTheBooks CEO/Founder. “This is a tremendous amount of money. This is during a period when their endowments soared to over $15 billion.”
