WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump cut $2 billion in Harvard funding and is threatening to cut more if the institution does not comply with the administration’s critical reforms
Rachel O’Brien, the Public Policy Editor at Open the Books, says that Harvard usually collects $539 million from the federal government every year, more than it makes on tuition and room and board.
The university’s endowment is at $53 billion as of 2024, so it could afford to make adjustments to how much federal money it needs, according to O’Brien.
